This program is to provide orientation to offenders regarding the impact of alcohol and other drug use on individual behavior and driving skills and to allow offenders to further explore the personal ramifications of their own substance use and abuse with goal to have the participants understanding the effects of alcohol/drugs on human lives and to help them to avoid another DUI arrest.
Our counselors that conduct these classes for the Court or the Office of the Secretary of State are licensed and regulated by the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse. Professional evaluators working in these programs must meet standards prescribed by the Department and complete additional training annually. Programs are inspected and must conform to applicable Department Rules and Regulations in order to maintain licensure.
This course has been created to help you examine and change the high-risk behavior that brought you trouble. This course will give you an opportunity to learn about the risks and consequences of alcohol and other drug use, abuse, and the affects to your driving, family, community. We provide you with the information and support to help you avoid future problems.
You will learn to make a choice to alter your behavior, remember that driving is not a necessity or right, but a privilege that is granted and can be taken away. Consider you safety, the safety of those who drive with you, and the safety of the drivers and pedestrians moving around you. With the help of your instructors and peers you will ultimately see that a responsible lifestyle, personal change, and a commitment to avoid further consequences will lead to a happier life, better relations, and a safer community.
